today's lesson is on the history of the stirrup and although non-horse people may not read it as raptly as i did, on the edge of my seat with my mouth open, or even at all, the stirrup has been compared to the wheel and the printing press in importance .
i used dan derby's article because it is lighthearted but has much the same information as some of the much drier stirrup histories. for the true gluttons for punishment, a group to which i belong, i am including some of the drier histories as well.
